Account & Login

I can't sign in

Check that you entered your phone number with the correct country code and your 6-digit PIN, that you have an internet connection, and that you are using the latest version of HandeChat. If you forgot your PIN, tap "Forgot your PIN?" on the sign-in screen — we'll send a verification code to your phone number so you can set a new PIN. Resetting your PIN signs you out on every device.

I can't access my account

If you changed your phone number or can no longer receive verification codes, contact our support team from the details below and include the phone number registered to your account. We'll verify that the account belongs to you before making any change. Never share your PIN with anyone — HandeChat support will never ask for it.

I was signed out or have a session problem

HandeChat keeps you signed in until you log out. You may be signed out if your PIN was reset, or if the session was ended from another device. Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Linked devices to see every device signed in to your account, end any session you don't recognize, or log out all other sessions at once.

Messaging

My messages are not sending or arriving

Make sure you have a stable internet connection and the latest version of HandeChat, then reopen the conversation. Messages cannot be exchanged with a user you have blocked or who has blocked you. Delivery and read receipts show when a message has been delivered to and read by the recipient.

How do I send a voice message?

Use the microphone button in the message bar to record a voice message. The first time, HandeChat asks for microphone access — if recording does not work, allow microphone access for HandeChat in your device settings.

How do I share photos, videos and files?

Use the attachment button in the message bar to send photos, videos and documents. HandeChat needs permission to access your photos or files to attach them. Large files can take longer to upload on a slow connection — keep the app open until the upload finishes.

How do group chats work?

Create a group from the chats screen, choose its members and give it a name. Group admins can add or remove members, update the group details, and share an invite link so others can join.

Calls

How do I make a voice call?

Open a conversation and tap the phone button at the top of the chat to start a voice call, or the camera button for a video call. You can also switch a voice call to video during the call.

My call will not connect or keeps dropping

Calls need a stable internet connection on both sides. Try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, and make sure both people are using the latest version of HandeChat. Some workplace or public Wi-Fi networks block real-time calls — if calls fail only on one network, try another. Calls are not possible with a user you have blocked or who has blocked you.

The other person cannot hear me

HandeChat needs microphone access for calls (and camera access for video calls). On iPhone, go to Settings → HandeChat and turn on Microphone. On Android, go to Settings → Apps → HandeChat → Permissions and allow Microphone. Also check that you have not muted yourself on the call screen.

Notifications

I'm not receiving notifications

Check that notifications are turned on in HandeChat under Settings → Notifications and that the conversation is not muted. Focus or Do Not Disturb modes, and battery-saving settings on some Android devices, can also delay or silence notifications.

How do I allow notification permissions?

On iPhone, go to Settings → Notifications → HandeChat and turn on Allow Notifications. On Android, go to Settings → Apps → HandeChat → Notifications and turn them on.

My message notifications don't show the message text

Message previews can be turned on or off in Settings → Notifications. Notifications for encrypted chats never show message content — you will see "New encrypted message" instead. If notifications stopped after reinstalling HandeChat, open the app and sign in so this device can register for notifications again.

Translation

How do I translate a message?

Open the options for a message and choose Translate; you can switch back with Show original. To translate incoming messages automatically, turn on Auto-translate in Settings → Translation. Translation is not available in encrypted chats.

Can voice messages be translated?

Yes. HandeChat can create a text transcript of a voice message and translate it. In Settings → Translation, turn on Auto-transcribe voice messages and Auto-translate voice transcripts.

How do I change my language settings?

Change the language the app is shown in under Settings → Language — HandeChat supports English, Simplified Chinese, Bengali and Hindi. Choose the language messages are translated into under Settings → Translation.

Privacy & Safety

How does HandeChat handle my data?

Our Privacy Policy explains what information HandeChat collects, how it is used and protected, and your choices. You can manage your privacy options in Settings → Privacy & Security → Privacy.

How do I block or report someone?

Open the person's profile or your conversation with them to block or report them. Blocked users cannot message or call you; you can review and unblock them in Settings → Privacy & Security → Blocked users. You can follow up on reports you have submitted under Your reports.

How do I keep my account secure?

Never share your PIN or verification codes with anyone — HandeChat will never ask for them. Regularly review Settings → Privacy & Security → Linked devices and end any session you do not recognize. If you no longer want your account, you can delete it under Settings → Account → Delete account.
